CALL TO ACTION, July 17 2018

Midcoast Maine Indivisible is an action-oriented group of locally-organized citizens who resist efforts to advance the Trump agenda in the United States Congress. We are volunteers, not paid activists.  You are an essential part of that we.

CALL TO ACTION FOR July 17, 2018:

Donald Trump is a Liar

At Midcoast Maine Indivisible, we’ve put together a lot of events that have been planned long in advance.  But every once in a while, something happens that demands an immediate response.  Yesterday, we saw President Donald Trump unmasked as a dictator’s puppet, an apologist for corruption, a tool.
There’s a howl being raised in the nation.  We, all of us, need to add our voices to the howl.
Tomorrow night at sundown (8 pm here), people will hold protest vigils in cities and towns across the nation.  At the request of voices on our Facebook page asking, “is there going to be a protest here?,” we’ve added a vigil right in Rockland.
WHERE: In front of the Knox County Courthouse, 62 Union Street, Rockland.
WHEN: Wednesday, July 18, 8-9 PM
WHAT: Bring a candle, bring a noisemaker, bring a sign.
WHY: Fascist Cheeto
This event has been OKed with the city of Rockland.  It’s our constitutional right to speak out in protest.  And we know what’s going on right now is not ok, not normal.
You’re reading this message because you’ve put your voice out there before.  The time has come again.  Come on out on the street.  And bring a friend.  Bring your parent.  Bring your kid.  Bring your outrage.  Bring your voice.
Let’s make noise!

MEET UP TO ACT UP!: Next MCMI meeting is Wednesday, July 25 at 7 pm at the First Universalist Church, 345 Broadway, Rockland. We’ll be planning our next actions related to staging a documentary screening, bringing our pop-up voter registration table to fruition, and shepherding a local debate.  So come on down and bring a friend!

RECENT ACTION: On June 30, 2018 at the State House in Augusta, Maine, members of Midcoast Maine Indivisible had a strong presence at the Keep Families Together rally. We showed up in person to decry the criminalization of asylum and the jailing of families.  We also instigated song circles, chants, and flurries of horn calls, all with a heartfelt insistence: “not in our name!”
